Women and girls from across the city gathered in Beeston to celebrate a Women in Careers event on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the United Free Church on Malvern Road in Beeston Hill. Over 30 girls from South Leeds engaged with a diverse group of successful women at the event, organized by the Shine Project, and explored various career paths.
Emma Watson, a young attendee, shared her enthusiasm:
“It was a really good event! It was great to talk to nurses, women who work in finance, retail, and the charity sector too!”
Midwife Andrea Hill also commented:
“It was great to be a part of the careers fair and to chat to the girls about a career in healthcare. They asked some great questions and hopefully it helped to inspire them to think big about their futures.”
The Shine Project, run by St Luke’s CARES, has been supporting girls in South Leeds for over ten years. They are dedicated to helping young people navigate challenges and provide them with new experiences to foster growth and development. The charity aims for all the girls they support to reach their full potential.
