We are seeking to recruit a key role to help drive our digital transformation services with a particular focus on networking, network management, and school networks security. In this role, you will support defining our future digital direction, influence our stakeholders, and support improvement within the ICT Service and across the breadth of the Council. We strive to provide the best technology solutions allowing Council services to improve supporting our ongoing strategy of delivering key services digitally. This new role will provide you with the opportunity to be part of our team leading and supporting networking and network infrastructure programmes that will deliver our priorities for the Council. We need an ambitious, innovative, effective solution creator and highly skilled Network technology specialist to lead our team as a technical lead. A key part of this role is responsibility for leading the development and delivery of technology solutions that fit the Council's aspirations for secure, robust digital networking with a focus too on security. You will have specific experience leading implementation for change in networking, network management tools, and some experience of working with educational networks in Schools with a strong emphasis on security. Previous experience is expected in providing support and implementation including quality assurance for Cisco and Aruba Enterprise network solutions. A proven track record of translating complex requirements into delivered technology solutions, with proven delivery of network solutions that will enable our business and education users and help transform our services to digital. You must be creative, with a ‘can–do’ approach and have detailed experience of project delivery. Digitally savvy, you will be able to successfully challenge traditional ideas and ways of thinking, as well as having the proven ability to effectively deliver a large-scale enterprise user environment across technology solutions with a focus on secure network management. Within this role you will:

  • Support the Head of ICT Operations in developing and providing an excellent and efficient Service across ICT, to its Council Members and its customers, inclusive of schools, by being responsive to customer needs and in keeping with recognised best practice.
  • Support the co-ordination and management of business change arising from the schools HWB programme of work and ICT Work Programme to implementation into operational areas, securing the delivery of the programmes outcomes and benefits.
  • Responsible for the management and development of a team for the provision of Unified Communications Services (Data & Voice) in use across schools and the wider Council, continuously monitoring and improving the team’s response and standard of customer care provided to the Council’s staff and Members.
  • Work with the Technical Architect for Unified Communications to be responsible for the operational support of Unified Communications solutions architecture, (including WAN, LAN, Firewall, Data, Voice) providing technical planning, design, optimisation and quality assurance to business change projects from their inception and transition to business as usual.
  • Strategically liaise with the Service Management Team and the business stakeholders on the provision of Unified Communications Services, for all ICT’s customers as defined in the relevant SLA, as well as deputising for the Technical Services Manager as appropriate.
