This position is critical to the NIO's ability to understand the views of the community and civic society, factor these into policy development, and demonstrate that the NIO is connected and engaging positively with people in Northern Ireland. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Gathering insight from a wide-ranging and varied network of external stakeholders from across the community to inform and influence delivery of the NIO's priorities; Broadening and deepening the NIO's stakeholder network; Providing strategic advice and support for ministerial engagements with civil society and community organisations in Northern Ireland; Policy leadership and advice on issues concerning parading and the Public Processions Act (NI), working closely with the Parades Commission; and Line management of three people. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: The post holder will need to demonstrate the following in their application and at interview: A proven track record of maintaining strong and effective relationships with a wide variety of external stakeholders, with the ability to quickly build trust and mutual understanding; Experience of ensuring that the views of external stakeholders are reflected in government policy development, with an ability to influence teams across the NIO and UK Government more broadly; An understanding and awareness of the issues facing civil society and community organisations in Northern Ireland; and Team leadership and management skills, with the capacity to set direction for the team, proactively identify opportunities to support departmental objectives and lead the team to deliver against multiple workstreams.
