Finance AssistantLocation: Preston / Hybrid (Minimum 3 days per week in Preston office)

Delkia is a specialist engineering and technology company focused on safety-critical and mission-critical systems in highly regulated industries, including aerospace, clean energy, and maritime. Our services include engineering design, technical consultancy, and systems integration.

Our Head Office is located at Westlakes Science and Technology Park in West Cumbria, supported by systems integration, assembly, and testing facilities in Egremont, Cumbria, and design offices in Preston, Lancashire. We are also expanding with a new manufacturing facility in Haydock, St Helens, Merseyside opening in early 2025. Alongside these locations, we have a network of skilled staff working across the UK, forming a dynamic and highly capable team.

Overview of the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our busy finance team. As a Finance Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Your attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to work collaboratively will contribute to the smooth operation of our finance department.

Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, reconcile accounts, manage payment schedules and credit control.
  • Expense Management: Review and process employee expense claims, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Daily reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Data Entry: Accurately input financial data into accounting software.
  • Assist with Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries and support month-end processes.
  • Support Audits: Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits.
  • Assist with monthly payroll and pensions
  • General Administrative Tasks: Assist with filing, record-keeping, and other administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: AAT qualified/part qualified is preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a similar roles is advantageous.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience of accounting software preferably Xero, Sage Payroll Microsoft Excel and ERP systems is preferred
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in data entry and financial calculations.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
  • Confidentiality: Handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
